The Panyu resort holds five parks, and they are not equal. The Safari Park (¥300, ~$42) is genuinely world-class and the one to do. Paradise (¥250) earns its ticket if coasters are your thing. The Water Park (¥229) works in the long hot season. The Birds Park (¥100) suits photographers, and the Circus (¥450) is a skip — it is the most expensive ticket on the resort and its animal performances are a live ethics problem for most Western visitors. Never attempt more than two parks in a day.

The consistent complaints, across thousands of reviews: the price (one summary — it makes Disneyland look affordable), expensive and limited food inside, confusing signage, brutal weekend and school-holiday crowds, and enormous walking distances — one family logged about 20km in a day. The consistent fixes: avoid Saturdays entirely, go Tuesday–Thursday and arrive at opening, use the Safari cable car as a rest and an overview, and treat two parks in one day as the hard ceiling.
On the circus: it is a 6,000-seat arena spectacle with 300+ performers, and it includes performing animals. China's park industry does not carry the welfare disclosure standards Western visitors may assume, and this site's position is simple — we list the ticket because the product exists, we rate it SKIP, and if animal performance sits wrong with you, it will sit wrong here. The Safari's drive-through habitats are a different and defensible model.
Getting there: Metro Line 3 or 7 → Hanxi Changlong, Exit D or E, then the free resort shuttle every 10–15 minutes — about 40 minutes from central Guangzhou, 1.5 hours from the airport. The resort hotels (Chimelong Hotel with white tigers in the atrium, the family Panda Hotel, the better-value Xiangjiang) run ¥800–2,500 and include early entry.

No. Ocean Kingdom and the newer Chimelong Spaceship are in Hengqin, Zhuhai — about an hour from Guangzhou South by high-speed rail (¥65–85) plus a bus. Treat them as a Zhuhai overnight, not a Guangzhou day trip. The Guangzhou (Panyu) resort holds the Safari Park, Paradise, the Water Park, the Birds Park and the circus.
Which Chimelong park is best?

How many Chimelong parks can you do in one day?
